Our Name Change:
Why did you change your name from Ten Thousand Villages Alexandria to The World Crafted on King?
Our store, The World Crafted on King, will remain an affiliate of Ten Thousand Villages US, continuing to champion fair trade and support artisans around the world. At the same time, our independence will allow us to further expand our partnerships and bring exciting new fair trade products to our shelves.
Will World Crafted continue to be a not-for-profit, fair trade store that welcomes volunteers?
Yes! We are still incorporated as a 501c3 with the US Internal Revenue Service and registered in the State of Virginia. Of course, from the friendly-face that welcomes you to the decision-maker around the table… volunteers are the heart of World Crafted.
Yes! We continue to be a verified member of the Fair Trade Federation and continue to focus on fair trade handmade goods from marginalized communities around the world.
Will you continue to sell products from Ten Thousand Villages US?
Yes! All of your favorites like one of a kind sari baskets from Bangladesh and the Bicycle Pizza Cutter from India are still available here!
Can I place a special order for a Ten Thousand Villages US product that is not in stock at World Crafted?
Yes, if the product is in stock and available for us to order from Ten Thousand Villages US. Special orders may take 1-2 weeks to be fulfilled.
Can I use a Ten Thousand Villages US gift card as payment at World Crafted?
Yes. Currently, physical Ten Thousand Villages US gift cards may be used as payment through 2025.
Can I purchase a Ten Thousand Villages US gift card from World Crafted?
No. Ten Thousand Villages US gift cards can be purchased at tenthousandvillages.com.
Does The World Crafted offer gift cards?
Yes! Gift cards to the World Crafted are only available at our shop on King Street.
Can I return Ten Thousand Villages US products to World Crafted?
Yes AND No. With the exception of FINAL SALE items (Gift Cards and Clearance Items), any item purchased at our King Street location may be returned to within 60 days with receipt. Items purchased at tenthousandvillages.com or a Ten Thousand Villages branded store may not be returned to The World Crafted.
Will World Crafted participate in Ten Thousand Villages US promotions and discounts?
No. As of December 2025, World Crafted is not directly participating in Ten Thousand Villages US promotions and discounts.
I receive emails from Ten Thousand Villages Alexandria and Ten Thousand Villages US, will I receive email communication from The World Crafted?
Yes! If you received emails from Ten Thousand Villages Alexandria, you will continue to receive messages from The World Crafted on King. If you also receive email from Ten Thousand Villages US, that should continue, and preference changes can be made at tenthousandvillages.com. As of December 2025, if a customer-friend has requested to receive email communication from our store, that communication will only be sent from hello@theworldcrafted.org
Will your location and hours change?
No and No. We will continue to call 915 King Street in Old Town Alexandria home, as we have for the last 20+ years. And, our hours will remain Monday - Saturday 10am-7pm and Sunday 11am-5pm.
